In “The Godfather” Sonny Corleone take charge of the Corleone Family after an assassination attempt on his father Vito...and all hell breaks loose.
Jared Kushner is taking charge of of the drumpf crime family War Room and WaPo reports that the heir in law apparent and his merry band of apparatchiks have adopted tough guy lingo from the three part spaghetti opera.
“Go to the mattresses,” a line from “The Godfather” film about turning to tough mercenaries during troubled times, has circulated among Trump’s friends, according to two people close to the “war room” discussions.
Going to the mattresses refers to the syndicate war time tactic of renting anonymous apartments and throwing mattresses on the floor to accommodate hired guns until such time as deemed advantageous for their deployment.
You remember the scene in the movie when Sonny makes his fateful decision...
“No, no, no! No more! Not this time, consiglieri. No more meetings, no more discussions, no more Sollozzo tricks. You give 'em one message: I want Sollozzo. If not, it's all-out war: we go to the mattresses.”
...to such success:

Twitter remembers too.
I’m going for more popcorn before the tollbooth scene.
