The estimates pre-rally were an attendance of 3,000. The official count post rally came in at 4,800, but I believe that was just the number that actually got in eventually. Due to a case of advanced “been on my feet too long for an old man” I left early as Bernie was winding up his speech, and, due to a dearth of secret service guys and metal detectors, there was still a line outside in the balmy, misty, Springfield evening at least three city-blocks long. At least a thousand souls that didn’t get inside. Perhaps as many as two.
I attended not because I was a Bernieac but because I was undecided who to vote for in our Primary next Tuesday. I wrote about this a few days ago here And I attended because that idiot Ted Cruz was speaking across town at the Assemblies of God (read evangelicals) outlet college Evangel University and I was determined his crowd wouldn’t eclipse Bernie’s. Later news reports estimated his attendance at 2,200...nice try Ted….
